Tip#1 Waterproof versus Regular mascara

When deciding what to use, think about how long you want it to last and what events will be involved for the day. I prefer regular mascara because I feel its easier to remove after a long day. But of course, if I know I’m going to an event like a wedding or birthday, something with milestones then I look for my waterproof mascara.

Tip #2 The mascara wand shape matters

Every mascara has a different wand shape, some are shaped like an hourglass, others are narrow and tapered (looks like a Christmas tree) towards the end of the wand making it easier to reach smaller areas like your inner eye area. The wand for the mascara you use can create how your mascara appears when put on. My favorite and the one that I’ve seen create the most appealing looks would be the silhouette shaped mascara wand and the cone-shaped wand that looks like a Christmas tree.

Tip #3 Clear or color mascara is an option

When I was starting out wearing makeup I would wear clear mascara. For a few reasons, one it doesn’t smudge and two I didn’t want it to be so visible that I had mascara on. My parents would have thought I was trying to grow up too fast. Try a different color or in this case no color. Using mascara colors like blue and purple can definitely bring out the color of your eyes. Try it out!

Tip #4 Eyelash primer for a more dramatic look

Eyelash primer is usually not used but missing this step can mean missing extra volume, even to the extent of giving the impression you have falsies (fake eyelashes) on. I was once speaking to a friend and couldn’t help noticing her lashes, they looked ionic and thick. I’m also pretty sure they didn’t look like that the day before. So I asked the secret and she said eyelash primer.

Tip #5 Curl your eyelashes 1st

I'm sure like me we have all skipped this step but I promise it works. Always start by curling your lashes with a lash curler or if you're into technology an eyelash heater( yes these exist). I will talk about the eyelash heater in a future post.

Bonus Tip:

Not all eyelashes are created equal so look for a mascara that won't weigh down your lashes, look for one with a weightless formula. Maybe Varenti Beauty has one?
